Ministry with Children
June, 2024: “Catch on Fire” at Maringá Igreja Centro Internacional de Avivamento
Charity spoke on words of knowledge, explaining that they built expectation and faith for healing in the hearers. At the end, she instructed the crowd that they would be the ministry team for this session! People who had never given WOKs who received one from the Lord could share. As we watched the Brazilians line the front, some were nervous and some more confident. Aisa, age 8, practically danced to the front, joyfully buzzing with excitement. She had a WOK for a condition with the right ear.
After all the Brazilians shared their words, Charity instructed everyone who had one of those conditions to stand and for the trained ministry team to go up to assist the newbies in Global Awakening’s 5 step prayer model. Before releasing the crowd to come up for prayer, she prayed over everyone standing and there were several who were healed without even having hands laid on them!
Aisa had stood out for me, so I joined her at the front and introduced myself in Portuguese. Because this session had lower attendance, there was a shortage of translators, we had one at the end, so thank God for Google translate! No one came up responding to her WOK, but we prayed for Gustavo who had pain in the left hip at a level 8 and some pain in right foot for 1 month. We prayed for him a few times and saw significant improvement. Sometimes you see the beginnings of transformation the first night and people get progressively healed over the conference – I prayed it was that way for Gustavo!
Aisa was a darling and we talked about pets in broken Portuguese. With the small crowd, it was clear Gustavo would be the only person we prayed for at that session. My rambunctiously exuberant ministry partner made me wish we had lots more to pray for – she was a firecracker! I asked Aisa to pray over me and got on my knees to match her height as she prayed. Her prayer was encouraging and prophetic! I am always eager to minister with young people, and Aisa had confidence to minister probably because her parents modeled it well for her. I pray the next generation of young people arise to expect God to move when they invite Him!
